Evolving The Heart Of Psychology And Mental Health Work

Heart Canyon

MY WORK IS ABOUT inspiring mental health professionals in their vocation, so we may love ourselves and others back into the wholeness of life.

Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness… the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man (sic) will have discovered fire – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

I also offer training in ACT and Buddhist approaches to Mindfulness based Psychology. I have trained psychologists and other therapists in numerous workplaces in these approaches. You may like to contract me directly for a whole day or two or a series of workshops. I am also available for Mindfulness Intensives / Retreats for practitioners on a self-care basis.

I can also support your therapy work and / or workplace with group or individual supervision. This does not include supervision for AHPRA registration. My orientation in supervision is towards ACT and FAP and Buddhist approaches to Mindfulness based techniques and interventions. I like to work with how you are doing in your role as a therapist / psychologist as well as your other roles and relationships. Whilst maintaining good boundaries is essential, I sense that being a good therapist is not something we can do with only part of ourselves. It is important for us to walk our talk and apply techniques in our own lives; to continue to grow as conscious humans in order to offer the best to our clients.

I was very lucky in my early years as a psychologist; I had very good supervision in my roles in Child Protection and Juvenile Justice and subsequently in Domestic Violence work. My supervisors were clear that while my clients were important, so was how I was doing in the role. I felt supported and encouraged to be my best. This enriched my life and the lives of those I worked with. I have continued to seek out the best in supervision. I am currently inspired in my own supervision by the wisdom and compassion of Mavis Tsai. So when another therapist, psychologist or counsellor chooses me to supervise them, I have the opportunity to pass on that encouragement and support.

In this world, hate never yet dispelled hate. Only love dispels hate. This is the law, ancient and inexhaustible. Buddha
